Abstract
A 15 year old boy presented to our emergency room (ER) with abdominal pain, after a fall from a 2-wheeler in a road traffic accident. At presentation he was conscious, oriented and hemodynamically stable.  Investigations revealed he had sustained multiple left sided rib fractures, left iliac fracture and a grade-IV splenic injury, associated with hemoperitoneum. His hemoglobin level had a sharp decline over a short period of time. Considering all the available treatment options, a laparoscopic splenectomy was performed, following which he had a short uneventful post-operative course, and discharged on 4th post-operative day. Conclusion: Laparoscopic splenectomy is safe and a feasible option in hemodynamically stable patients, with a short and relatively pain free hospital course.
