Myxomatous degeneration of mitral valve causing mitral regurgitation is not a rare entity in clinical practice. Literature across congenital heart disease describes maximum 37 mm prolapse of anterior mitral leaflet in rarest of cases. Our case is unique in demonstrating huge prolapse of posterior mitral leaflet being more than that ever described in literature in myxomatous spectrum. Our case is an unique presentation of a young male of 23 years with effort intolerance NYHA class III with 39 mm prolapse of belly of posterior mitral leaflet into the left atrium causing eccentric moderate mitral regurgitation. Patient underwent successful mitral valve repair leading a healthy life now. |
